Calligraphy really encourages relaxation and slowing down. So, as you learn the basic strokes, I recommend you create a calm space, surrounded by music and candlelight.
From the scratch of the nib on the paper’s surface to the smooth flow of the ink, calligraphy is a mindful practice at its very heart.
It forces you to focus your mind on the task at hand… As you change the pressure on the pen to make gentle ovals and loops, your mind is completely consumed by this activity, and the rest of the world melts away.
